I have a confession to make. I have never been a fan of face primers. I know, blasphemy right? But in my experience they make foundations sit on the skin really weird. Like when you go to put your foundation on after primer, the makeup just ends up balling up, or going on unevenly especially if you have larger pores. It just looks like a big mess. That’s why I’ve been in the never ending pursuit to find the best face primers. This list is uber short (there are only 2 products) so the primers on here definitely deserve to be here, because they challenge every belief I have in my head about primers.

I’ll start with my fav- Illamasqua Hydra Veil. This stuff is amazing. It has Niacinamide which locks in your skin’s natural moisture, algae extract to calm & soothe the skin & reduce redness. Plus it makes your foundation go on beautifully! Definitely a fan of this product.

Another great one, especially for mature skin- Hourglass veil mineral primer. This stuff really holds your foundation in place all day. Plus it has an SPF of 15 and the bonus- it makes your skin look really smooth.

That is pretty much the entire list. Don’t get me wrong, if you have a primer that you really like and works great for you like the Smashbox one or the MAC one, stick with it, but if you are looking for something new, I encourage you to check these two out. Oh another one to watch out for- the one by Temptu. I haven’t tried it yet so I can’t give you my review of it, but I am definitely planning to pick this one up at IMATS as I’ve heard amazing things about it!
