Did you catch the show last night? The 2016 Academy Awards did not disappoint! Chris Rock was great, the red carpet was on point and Leo’s acceptance speech goes down in history as the best acceptance speech ever. Seriously, he deserves an Oscar just for that speech. Such a movie star. Anyways back to the red carpet, I have your best beauty picks for the 2016 Oscars!
We’ll start with Jennifer Lawerence. Her makeup was pretty simple but the star of the show was her hair. So sleek and very classy. In fact a big trend of the night for Oscars hair was wearing it down and loose. I like how her stylist made sure it still looked super chic though, it is the Oscars after all. To emulate this style use a good quality flat iron and finish off with a shine spray. That’s the key.
While a lot of women chose to wear their red carpet hair out, there were some great updo’s as well. Olivia Wilde’s hairstyle was gorgeous! I love the reverse french braid pulled back into a low braid bun. Very on trend. You’ll want to start with applying a volumizing mousse in damp hair to create texture & hold. Blow dry with a round brush and braid away!
Ok one of the most exciting moments of the evening (for me anyways) was seeing Priyanka Chopra on the red carpet. How amazing did she look?! It is so exciting to watch this girl’s career just take off on this side of the world. Plus it’s so inspiring to see Indians doing so well in their chose field. I’m going to record a video on how to get this look and post it later this week, so stay tuned!
No one brings more glamour to the red carpet than Charlize Theron. She just screams movie star. Her look last night was very soft and bronze and beautiful which looked to be a common theme of the night. The big makeup trend I’d have to say was simple eyeshadow, lashes and soft lips. To get her look layer on a volumizing mascara (I’m talking 3-4 coats) and invest in some self tanner.
Admittedly I’ve never heard of this last pick, but musician Andra Day definitely gets the Oscar for best makeup and hair. Talk about old Hollywood glamour! The eye makeup, the lashes and the lips looked stunning and the hair! Wow. You can use a big barrel curling iron to get the same waves. Hold the barrel horizontally and wrap your bangs over the barrel towards your face. Make sure you hold the barrel up above your head to get that height. Set with a strong hold hairspray.
Who else’s look did you love?
