It’s been 2 months now that I’ve been managing the Illamasqua counter at Sherway, and I have to say that although I’ve been a makeup artist for 8 years now, I haven’t felt so creatively inspired and excited about makeup in a long, long time. Being with Illamasqua has totally reignited that spark and love for makeup as art, and this being the week of Halloween, it has brought all that love back to the surface. Literally. We have been collaborating on different looks for the whole week leading up to Halloween! Here are some of the looks we’ve done and some easy Halloween makeup tips for you:

Space theme- We used silver shadows to give that space robot feel to the face, especially in the highlight areas (top of the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, cupids bow). That combined with Illamasqua lipstick in Apocolips (teal green- and oh man do I LOVE this color!!!) gives the look a total futuristic feel.

China doll- I used white eyeliner on the upper & lower waterlines, plus on the lower eyelid and then glued false lashes a couple cm’s underneath my natural lower lash. This gives the appearance of bigger doll-like eyes. Rounded eyebrows & lips and freckles enhance the doll affect.

Joker/Queen of Hearts- For this one we wanted to do half looks on the eyes. It always helps to use something like a business card to get that line dividing the two colors perfectly straight. Also don’t forget you can always change the color of your eyebrows by filling them in with a colored eyeshadow.

Bloody tears/Harley Quinn- Okay so this was by far the simplest look to do- apply black eyeshadow to the upper and lower eyelids, and then create the blood by using red lipgloss. That’s it.

We have even gotten to do some pretty fun looks on customers, check out the zombie I created!! If you only have makeup to use and no prosthetic materials, work with white, grey and black tones to create the shadows and corpse-like affect to the skin. Grey out the hollowed areas like the eye sockets, nasal folds and temples. Use a black lipstick on the lips and create blood with red lipstick/gloss.
