Fall's hottest makeup trends

While nobody hates the “W” word more than me (winter) the one thing we have to look forward to is fall/winter fashion & beauty trends! I’ve got the hottest makeup trends for you straight from the runway.

While the smokey eye is always a popular look, this one takes a modern twist with the deconstructed finish. The trick is in the application, and it’s a lot easier than you would think.

Use an eyeshadow primer first to hold the look in place. Most lines now carry chubby eyeshadow pencils, my personal fav is the Soft Touch Shadow pencil by Nars. Using that, fill the eyelid in and either with a blending brush or your finger, smudge and blend the color up into the crease of your eye. And voila, the deconstructed smokey eye! Yes it really is that simple.

The second trend which is also a fall/winter fav is the dark stained lip. While red has been the “it” color for the past few years, this season’s color has a deep twist to it.

Burgundy or maroon tones are the ones to opt for. Use a darker tone like Shard by Illamasqua. You can either apply it as a stain by blotting it onto the lips and blending with your finger or as full color with a deep lipliner.

The final trend off the runways is fresh, dewy skin.

Shimmer has come a long way from the chunky glitter of yesterday. We now have lightweight products with a pearlescent finish, like MAC’s lustre drops whcih you can either mix into your foundation or apply directly to give your skin that natural looking glow.
