I’ve got some skincare tips and gift ideas for that man in your life, just in time for Father’s day! I was on CHCH Morning Live earlier this week discussing the differences between men’s and women’s skin and had a ton of fun as my model was none other than Morning Live news anchor Bob Cowan. It was definitely a fun segment to shoot!
A lot of the cosmetic companies out there are starting to cater towards men’s skin and for good reason too, men face skin issues that are quite different from what us women have to deal with. The main difference lies in the fact that men shave. With that comes a whole host of issues from excess oil production, acne, blocked/clogged pores, ingrown hairs and raised/bumpy skin. The most important thing a man can do for his skin is to ensure he gets a nice, smooth, close shave.
The Body Shop has a great new skincare line for men, based on the Maca root which is native to the Andes and was discovered by the Inca over 2000 years ago. It is meant to energize the skin.
The steps a man should use in his skincare regimen are the following:
-Use a cleanser to get rid of dirt and oil.The Maca root face wash contains maca root and creatine to boost skin vitality, menthol to cool the skin and Vitamins A, B & E to provide antioxidant protection
-Create a smooth base for the razor to glide on with the Maca root shave cream which keeps the pores open and the skin moist allowing the razor to glide on smoothly. The brazil nut and sunflower oils moisturize and soften the skin while the aloe vera soothes and hydrates
-After shaving it’s important to soothe the skin by using the Razor relief balm which contains Boswellia extract to give a calming effect
-The final step is to moisturize and protect from the sun with the Energetic face protector which contains an spf of 15
We also discussed the importance of using different products on the hair as well. Redken’s Clean spice 2 in 1 conditioning shampoo strengthens hair with proteins and leaves a nice aromatic spice aroma which stimulates the senses along with the essential wood oils which nourish and control hard to manage hair.
