When it comes to eyeshadow, the most common question I get asked is “how do I apply eyeshadow to suit my eye shape”?
It can get pretty confusing with all the images you see on Instagram, pinterest, etc. Don’t worry though, I’m going to break it down for you!
I love this chart, it’s a handy little guide to use. All you have to do is figure out which one is closest to your eye shape. To find that out there are a few things you can look at:
-How far apart are your eyes? (wide set vs close set)
-Are your eyelids pushed further in than your crease? (deep set)
-Do your eyes turn down slightly at the corners? (turned down)
-Does the skin on your crease come over your eyelids? (hooded)
-Are your eyelids rounded? (protruding)
Once you figure out your eye shape, refer to the chart. The shaded parts are where the darker colors should go and the lighter parts are where, well, the lighter colors should go. Basically it comes down to this- you are balancing the shape of your eyes with the shadows.
Dark makes things look smaller and further away, and light does the opposite, makes things look bigger and closer. So what you’re essentially doing with placing the shadows is you are balancing your eye shape to look more like the classic, most flattering eye shape: Almond eyes.
I hope that helps, if you have any questions, post in the comments 🙂
