It can be a little confusing when shopping for an eyeshadow palette these days because it seems since the release of Urban Decay’s first Naked palette, every company has launched a collection. Well I have gone out and done the research for you all and come up with a list of my Top 5 eyeshadow palettes for people with a skintone similar to mine (I’m an NC42 in MAC).
Basic palette everyone should have:
Any one of the Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palettes. I have and love all 3 but recently I was asked a difficult question to answer- Which one is my fav? I honestly couldn’t choose as they are all fab, but what I did come up with is this- if I was going on a trip and I could only take one, I’d probably take Naked 2.
This one was a tough call, but I really love Kat Von D’s Ladybird True Romance palette. There are plenty of neutral shades with which you can use to do a great, natural everyday look, but what really got me was the redder tones. These are so beautiful to create a warm, smokey eye look with.
This one is fairly new to the makeup world, it is the Too Faced Chocolate palette. You can do a variety of smokey eyes with this look, and you can definitely nail the Kim K eye using this. I also love the fact that it has a subtle chocolate scent and the pink/purple shades thrown into the mix, keep you from getting bored with your look.
This one is a great extra palette to have lying around for the days when you want a simple or soft smokey look but with a little interesting pop of color. The only thing missing from this palette is a good green, but the purple & blue are great. The best thing is the texture- it’s really nice & velvety, not chalky like some matte shadows.
This one goes hands down to MAC Cosmetics. Considering the vast selection of eyeshadow shades they have (close to 150 different shades), you can create thousands of different combinations that work best for you & your needs. Plus, the lid is see through, so if you have multiple cases, you will always be able to see which one you’re picking up.
What is your go to eyeshadow palette?
