If you are not a sunscreen user, here are a few reasons why you might start:
Sunscreen prevents premature aging and skin disease. This is all caused by harmful UV rays emitted from the Sun. Sunscreen blocks the absorption of these rays and in turn prevents the damage that might have occurred. Now if you have darker skin you don’t have to worry as much as your lighter skinned friend, but you are not entirely free. Use sunscreen on days when you will be exposed to the sun for several hours, just as a precaution. Darker skinned individuals are also at risk of a Vitamin D deficiency as the melanin in your skin slows the absorption rate of Vitamin D from the sun. Talk to your doctor to see if you need to add a supplement.
While we all love that tanned golden skin, it’s not worth risking serious diseases such as Melanoma. Limit your exposure to the tanning beds and load up on your sunscreen!!
