Indian Youtube beauty guru Kaushal Beauty

Ok so you guys have no idea how excited I am about this interview..meet Inidan Youtube beauty guru Kaushal Beauty!! She definitely has raised the bar when it comes to youtube videos (my videos are definitely inspired by hers) but I think it’s her positivity that I love the most. Not only is she super pretty (aren’t all Gujarati girls??) she is a genuinely nice person and it definitely comes across in her videos, her posts and even Kaushal beauty’s boyfriend’s posts (which I LOVE to read btw).

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am Indian, Gujarati to be precise. I grew up in England and did move to the USA briefly but have been back in the UK ever since šŸ™‚

How did you end up creating a YouTube beauty channel and how did it grow to over 200,000 subscribers?

I have blogged for years in my spare time and after about 3 years of blogging I decided to start making some videos here and there (which are sadly deleted because they were really bad, and I was clearly very nervous in them!) LOL. Iā€™m not too sure how Iā€™ve got over 200,000 subscribers now?! I feel like I closed my eyes and opened them to that! Itā€™s been a crazy few months, Iā€™ve gotta say!

Kaushal beauty

What are your 3 can’t leave home without beauty products?

Hmmm, three beauty products I canā€™t leave the house withoutā€¦ That would have to be SPF, Mascara and blusher! Okay and some tinted lip balm! And maybe some concealerā€¦ I think this goes to show how much of a beauty junkie I really am!

You do a lot of tutorials on Bollywood looks. Who is your fav bollywood actress & why?

My all time favourite has to be Madhuri Dixit. She is beautiful, elegant and not to mention an amazing dancer! I used to dance to all her songs growing up. Now-a-days, it will have to be Deepika Padukone – sheā€™s such a babe!

Kaushal beauty quotes

You have done an amazing job creating a career out of your dreams, congratulations on all your success! Do you have any advice for other girls when it comes to living their dreams?

It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do. The best advice I could give to anyone is, work 10x harder on your dreams than you are now. All the hard work you put in, will help in the outcome. One last thing I would say is always stay positive about your dreams too. Try not to create too many doubts that stand in the way of them šŸ™‚

All about Kaushal Beauty

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I donā€™t even know what Iā€™ll be doing in 5 days time, let alone years hehe! But I would like to be married, living somewhere sunny with a life filled with lots of love and happiness šŸ™‚

Thank you so much Kaushal for being so generous with your time and answers! To watch Kaushal’s videos click here and don’t forget to head over to her blog for more Kaushal Beauty! For more interviews from my Inspirational women series, click here.

farahdhukai

I first came across Farah Dhukai about a year ago and was immediately blown away by her. Not only is she drop dead gorgeous, but she is extremely down to earth (can you tell I love people like that??) and posts really great YouTube videos. I have been wanting to feature her as part of my inspirational women feature on my blog for a while now and we finally made it happen!! Make sure you subscribe to her youtube channel and to mine of course! šŸ˜‰

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I was born and raised in the beautiful City of Toronto, but my parents and their parents etc etc were born and raised in East Africa. If you go all the way back then my family originates from India. A lot of people get confused when I say my family is from Africa so when people normally ask me what my background is, I say East African Indian lol

farah dhukai 2

How did you end up creating a YouTube beauty channel and how did it grow to over half a million subscribers?

There are a couple reasons why I first started…which I talk about in myĀ ā€œDraw my Lifeā€ video, however, first and foremost, I was just in a rut.. no motivation, no ambition, I had suffered a deep loss and I felt like I was going no where in life and one day I was browsing the internet and came across some beauty tutorials on youtube and thought to myself that I could do this too (this was my alter-ego confident girl in me because believe me, I was SUPER shy) SO I grabbed my cameraĀ and just started filming things that I knew, that I thought I could share with people. I’m so glad I decided to start filmingĀ because it not only helped me get out of my shell and not be as shy, but it also helped fill a void within me. IĀ canā€™t even believeĀ Iā€™m at over half a million viewers! I never thought thatĀ people would want to watch me as much as they do! I’m so thankful that they do! Honestly though, IĀ wouldnā€™t have been able to grow without the help of my husband, Sal and the support of my family always encouraging me to just be myself. And of course, all of my viewers that haveĀ become a part of my family!

What are your 3 can’t leave home without beauty products?

I CAN’T live without something moisturizing for my lips, whether its a moisturizing lipstick, lip balm, tinted lip balm, or lip gloss.. I always need something that’s hydrating on my lips otherwise it drives me insane! Even though I make beauty videos, Iā€™m such a tomboy lol I donā€™t even have a make up bag in my purse (believe it or not) soooo If I had to choose two other things, it would definitely be perfume (that’s beauty related right?) and powder.

farah dhukai

What is you absolute fav Indian outfit to wear?

Definitely Anarkali!Ā Donā€™t get me wrong,Ā lenghas and saris are SOOO beautiful but nothing compares to the comfort of an Anarkali!

You haveĀ another channel with your hubby and I love the two of you together, you’re too cute! How did you two meet?

ThankĀ you so much! MyĀ husband and I met through a mutual friend many years ago and although that friendĀ isnā€™t in our lives anymore, Ill always be grateful to them for bringing me the love of my life!

farah dhukai and husband

You have done an amazing job creating a career out of your dreams, congratulations on all your success! Do you have any advice for other girls when it comes to living their dream?

ThankĀ you so much I really appreciate it! The best piece of advice I can ever offer anyone is to be themselves. In today’s world, I feel like we’re always losing ourselves to be able to fit in etc etc. so Be yourself. Be passionate about whatĀ youā€™re doing and give it your 100%. DreamsĀ donā€™t work unless you do, so put inĀ that work, give it all of you andĀ youā€™ll be living your dream in no time.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself being a mom, enjoying life with my husband and of course, growing as a person and growing my channel. I’d also love to have my skincare line, that my husband and I are working on, available at Sephora. That would be a dream come true! But for now, we’re available online atĀ farsali.com.

Meet Indian Youtuber Deeptima Singh!

Deeptima Singh

Meet Indian Youtube beauty guru Deeptima Singh! Deeptima lives in India and one of the things that I love about her videos is that you get to see the actual cosmetic products used in India in her haul & product review vids. My fav video of hers has to be her “Draw my life” video. You really get to see her story and what lead her to following her dreams.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I was born and brought up in India, but because of my Dadā€™s job we had to shift few states. I was born in Bhopal and currently living in the Capital city i.e. New Delhi.

Deeptima Singh 2

What made you want to start a YouTube beauty channel?
I never planned on starting my YouTube channel, it just happened. I have always been a keen observer of everything creative and artistic so I got introduced to YouTube while I was searching for some creative crafty ideas, after few days I realized YouTube was a whole new separate world. The whole idea of making videos really fascinated me. Little bit more browsing a few clicks here and thereā€¦ and makeup and beauty videos happened.

What are your 3 can’t live without beauty products?
Currently I cannot live without my Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation, just little under my eyes and on problem areasĀ  makes a huge difference, I would say mascara and lip balm are also a must for me but the fact that I cannot live without my Cetaphil cleanser is equally true.

Deeptima Singh 3

What is the one place anyone visiting India must go see?
I love my Country, I adore its rich cultural heritage. I havenā€™t traveled the whole country yet but personally I would highly recommend Back waters of Kerala and Sonmarg in Kashmir to everyone visiting India.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I always find such questions to be the hardest to answer, my life is about to change as I am getting married at the end of this year so I donā€™t know what to expect but few things are certain I see myself much-much closer to my dream project, happy and content with life.

Thank you Deeptima and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!! You can check out Deeptima’s Youtube channel here.

Meet Tamanna Roashan from Dress your Face!

Dress your face

I am sooo excited to share this interview with you guys, this woman is one of my absolute biggest inspirations, meet Tamanna Roashan from Dress your Face. Not only is she CRAZY talented, but she is humble and knows that true success comes from hard work & perseverance.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Well, I am a product of a mixed household- My mother is Hindu Indian and my father is a Muslim from Afghanistan. I love being half and half! It really gave me a well rounded background and I took the best from both cultures and religions. I was born in Los Angeles and raised near San Francisco, then recently came back to LA to take my career to greater heights. It’s really been a dream come true!

Dress your face 2

You have really grown a huge international following, especially onĀ your Instagram (she has 750,000 followers!!). How did you start out in makeup and how did it grow to what it is today?

My career started when I was very young… I started as a photographer for weddings (my parents side business) when I was only 13 years old (1997/98). I spent a LOT of time with brides, and back then they didn’t hire artists for hair and makeup… In fact their friends and family would get them ready at home. I would often help, since I was there taking photos anyway. Because of my photography training, I was very keen on making the brides look as polished as possible on camera and this is what ultimately helped me create my “HD Photography Makeup” technique once that technology came out in the early to mid 2000’s. I did go to cosmetology school and makeup institutions for training and certification, but it was because of my photography background and the quality of my makeup that I showed on camera and the perfect images I shared with the world on social media which led to the all the attention I received. From MySpace to Facebook and now Instagram, my audience grew very rapidly and I would have never imagined it to be this big. I even got opportunities to work for magazines and submit beauty articles and photos to be published globally, before I even turned 19. It just all happened so fast! But social media is a full time job on it’s own… The biggest contributor to my growth was the fact that I never stopped sharing. I posted photos and revealed all the products I used to create those looks. I held nothing back. So my pages weren’t just filled with beautiful pictures, they were filled with VALUABLE information as well. Not a lot of artists did that.

Dress your face quote

You have an amazing collaboration with Anastasia Beverly Hills! How did that come about and can you fill us in on any other exciting upcoming projects?

Yes, she has truly been my fairy godmother (as I like to call her)! I had been using Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products for over 10 years… Since before I even knew she was a real person. When I joined Instagram 2 years ago, I would post my work and list all products used. One day she stumbled on my page and noticed I had been listing her brow products on all my posts… I nearly died of a heart attack when I saw her email sitting in my inbox, basically thanking me and asking to add me to their PR mailing list to try their products before they even launch. She started “following” me and commenting on my posts and she even defended me when the “bullies” would say offensive things to me. She always showed me a lot of love and support from the moment we met online, and our bond only grew stronger since then. Less than a year later, she asked me to be the face of her world-famous “Contour Kit” and invited me to join her at the Golden Globes In-Style Party as her date. She has gifted me some of the most memorable moments of my life. She means the world to me and I strive to be more and more like her… I see a lot of myself in her. And she has been so generous not only to me but also to other artists in the Instagram community. We have all become like family and we have a lot of amazing things planned for the future… Stay tuned!

Dress your face 3

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I’m inspired by anything and everything… from earth’s natural wonders like the wild flowers and tropical beaches, to our man-made treasures such as Indian jewelry and textile patterns. But more than anything (and I don’t mean for this to sound cocky in any way) I feel the need to stay inspired most by MYSELF and my own work, because the moment my own work doesn’t inspire me to create more, and my own life doesn’t inspire me to live more, I’ll know that I have lost my fire. I never want that day to come.

What are your 3 don’t leave home without beauty products?

1) MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NC42 it sounds like a dark color but it actually goes on light and has a peachy warm tone to knock out dark under-eye circles!
2) Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Brow Pencil in Medium Ash this color isn’t too dark or too light and the pencil is super easy to use… It also tricks everyone into thinking my brows are naturally this perfect when in fact I have no brows!
3) LancĆ“me Hypnose Drama Waterproof mascara in Black it’s the best mascara I have ever used… Thickens, lengthens, curls, separates, and lasts all day through sweat and tears without flaking or smearing!

Tamanna Roashan

You have done an amazing job creating a career out of your dreams, congratulations on all your success! Do you have any advice for other girls when it comes to living their dream?

Thank you! My biggest most rewarding advice is something my husband actually told me years ago. If your DREAM job isn’t available through an established company already, or doesn’t exist for you when you are ready for it, you have to take that leap and CREATE IT yourself. Be the person you see yourself being. If you’re good at something and you’re driven and you can see yourself living a successful life because of it, then don’t let yourself make excuses. I did this almost 4 years ago. I worked for a huge cosmetic line and my hard work constantly got recognized and I was promoted several times over the span of 8 years, and was next in line to be their National Trainer which was my ultimate goal in the company. When the economy crashed and this position got eliminated, my purpose was completely lost. But I still went to work every day because that’s what I was supposed to do. Just roll with it and hope for the best. One day I came home and my husband saw how unhappy I was and he gave me that golden advice… and just like that, I left my cosmetic management job of 8 years, and I turned my part time side-business known as “DressYourFace” into a full time dream career. I couldn’t be a “national trainer” with that company, but I created that position for myself and now I am traveling the world and educating thousands of people with my knowledge in the industry. So, whatever it is that you dream of doing, you have to make it happen for yourself. It will not just be handed to you on a silver platter… YOU are the only person that can help you.

Tamanna Roashan quote

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

DressYourFace is growing. Aside from product collaborations and branding the name, I hope to one day open up a school for aspiring makeup artists to learn REAL WORLD makeup based on REAL WORLD experiences. I do not teach “by the book” and my current one-on-one students absolutely love that because I can twist the curriculum based on needs. I want to be able to reach a larger group but still offer that one-on-one feel, and I hope to build a school that can allow students to broaden their knowledge outside the box without feeling ignored or overlooked in a crowd of artists. I hope in 5-10 years that I can make this into a reality!

Thank you Tamanna for sharing your story with us and your amazing words of advice and for being such an inspiration to me and many other women!! You can follow her on Instagram here.

Indian Beautie

So I am sooo excited to share a new series with you that I’m starting on my blog in which I’ll be featuring inspirational women who have found success online through their passion.

The first in my series is Youtube beauty guru, Indian Beautie. I came across her videos a longgg time ago when I was starting my channel, and absolutely love and am inspired by her dedication to living her life with passion and following her dreams. Read on to find out more about Snigdha!

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am Snigdha, born and grew up in India. Originally from south India but spend most of the childhood and teenage years in Delhi.Ā  I moved to London 5 years ago and I love it! I consider myself to be lucky to be living in one of the awesome place in the world.

Indian beautie 3

How did you end up creating a YouTube beauty channel?

I stumbled upon the Youtube beauty community quite a while ago. I was amazed by everything that was going on! However when I tried to find tutorials/help for my skin tone, I couldn’t find anyone. Either the youtubers were lighter skin toned than me or darker. That’s why I though “Why shouldn’t I create a channel and help other girls with my skintone?”

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Inspiration is everywhere….from other Youtubers, magazines and people that I know in everyday life. My husband is a strongĀ supporter of me and hisĀ confidenceĀ in me keeps me going!

Indian Beautie 2

What are your 3 don’t leave home without beauty products?

Actually I am happy to leave home without any makeup but the 3 must items are kohl, mascara and a bright lipstick. Bright lipstick can take the attention away from other parts of the face.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

At the moment, I am planning my travel South America scheduled next year. You can see a lot more about my travels in the ‘Travel’ section of my blog http://www.indianbeautie.com/

Indian Beautie 4

You have done an amazing job creating a career out of your dreams, congratulations on all your success! Do you have any advice for other girls when it comes to living their dream?

It sounds cliche’ but be confident, be yourself and believe in your dreams

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I just want to keep making more and more videos and blog posts and keep others inspired.

You can check out Snigdha’s Youtube channel here. Thank you Snigdha, keep up the amazing work!
